Southern Utah is AMAZING!

We were blown away by the beauty that was everywhere in southern Utah, and you will be too. Our family spent one week there (which was not enough), and we are yearning to go back.

If you are considering where to take your family on an affordable vacation that will be full of adventure and fun, you must consider southern Utah!

Where To Stay

We found an amazing Airbnb to stay in, which was our home base. The Smithsonian Retreat is where we stayed, and it is located in the little town of Apple Valley. You can read about this incredible Airbnb in my post, Amazing Stay at the Smithsonian Retreat, Utah. It is perfect for a large family, and offers so many amenities including tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts. The house is awesome, but its standout features are the location and the views. I can't say enough about it!!

Smithsonian Retreat House, Dog and Ford Excursion

The Smithsonian Retreat is what drew us to Utah. This is an Airbnb near Zion National Park, and having stayed there for a week I can confirm that it is truly an awesome property. If you are looking for lodging in Southern Utah, look no further this is it!

As you can see, it is dog friendly. The beautiful grounds are 2.5 acres (plenty of room for pooches to run!) and has volleyball, tennis, and basketball courts.

Toby at "The Bunkhouse" in Ft. Worth

We recently took a trip to the Ft. Worth area over New Year’s, and stayed at “The Bunkhouse,” a cozy guest cottage that we found on Airbnb.

The Bunkhouse is dog friendly (yay!) with approval from the awesome host, Cathy. The house has a fenced in yard in the back, where Toby (our St. Bernard) could run and stretch his legs.

Coyote Creek Cabin Lindale

We started staying in vacation rentals a few years ago. It was important to take our Great Pyrenees dogs Curley and Dante with us whenever we went traveling, and Airbnb's and VRBO's were the way to go.

We no longer have Curley and Dante with us. Now we have Toby, our St. Bernard. He LOVES traveling, as did Curley and Dante.

So we continue to look for great vacation rentals that the 3 of us can stay in.

Ft. Worth Water Gardens

One of my great joys is traveling with our dog, Toby. Toby absolutely loves car journeys and exploring...perhaps more than we do!

We recently took a trip to the Ft. Worth area over New Year's, and stayed at "The Bunkhouse," a cozy guest cottage that we found on Airbnb. A Ft. Worth long weekend getaway was absolutely delightful!

Looking for a great weekend or long weekend getaway?  Try spending a 3 Day Weekend in Glen Rose, Granbury, and Dublin, TX!

Glen Rose is around 3.5 hr drive from San Antonio, where we live, and approximately 1 hr from Ft. Worth and 1.5 hr from Dallas.

Over the last few years, I have become extremely fond of staying in VRBO and Airbnb properties.  If you haven't ever browsed these sites for vacation rentals, you are seriously missing out!  There are some amazing unique and fun properties that you can stay in, and what drew us to Glen Rose was The Birdhouse.

About Me

Hi I’m Grace! I'm married and a mom to my fur baby, Toby, and food and travel are two of my greatest passions! Since our bank account does not allow us to travel or eat out as much as we'd like, I decided I would cook delicious meals that could give us a taste of all the places we'd like to go. My goal is to get you in the kitchen, and inspire you to cook and taste delightful meals that will transport you too. Let’s throw some actual travel in from time to time, all with an emphasis on keeping your wallet full and happy as well. Let’s get cooking and let’s start exploring!! I'm excited to be on this journey with you!!

By the way most of these recipes are Toby taste tested and Toby approved!!
