  • Mummy Halloween Crescent Roll Recipe

I absolutely LOVE Pillsbury Crescent Rolls! Just thinking about that flaky and fluffy golden brown crust makes my mouth water. There are also so many fun ways to use crescent roll dough in fun Halloween recipes.

Crescent roll dough is perfect for use in creating spooky Halloween treats for Halloween season, such as the cute mummy dogs made with hot dogs and crescent rolls.

It's also perfect for this larger Crescent Roll mummy, which is a great option for your Halloween dinner or next Halloween party!

Why You Will Love This Recipe!

I have adapted this recipe from Pillsbury's Ham and Cheese Crescent Mummy. Rather than ham and cheese, the stuffing for this fun recipe will be a Philly Cheesesteak filling.

You will absolutely love this recipe because:

  • It's delicious! The Philly Cheesesteak filling includes tender thinly sliced pieces of yummy ribeye steak and plenty of Provolone cheese.
  • This easy recipe is ideal for Halloween night, and can be one of your showpieces as part of a fun dinner!
  • It's so enjoyable to create! You'll find yourself smiling as your mummy crescent roll masterpiece comes together!

So now let me show you what ingredients you will need for this simple recipe.

List Of Ingredients You Will Need For Mummy Crescent Rolls

A white bowl filled with sliced ribeye steak, bowls containing butter, salt and pepper, diced onion, black olives and green onions, whisked egg, a white plate topped with slices of provolone cheese, and a tin of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls.

You will need the following simple ingredients for these Philly Cheesesteak Mummy Crescent Rolls:

  • Crescent roll refrigerated dough (I used Pillsbury brand)
  • Provolone cheese slices
  • Ribeye steak
  • Black olives
  • Green onion
  • Egg
  • Butter
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Onion

Now let's get set to make the star of this year's Halloween party....Mummy Crescent Rolls with a delicious Philly Cheesesteak filling!

Instructions

It's super easy to make this fun dish!

Philly Cheesesteak Filling

Heat a skillet on medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Cook the diced onion with a pinch of salt and pepper until browned and caramelized (around 5 minutes) then remove the onions and set them aside.

Turn up the heat to high and add another tablespoon of butter. Add very thinly sliced ribeye steak, sear them, and cook until browned. Add ½ ts salt and ½ ts pepper at this time, stir through, and remove from the heat.

Now combine the cooked steak and onions, and set them aside so we can start working with our crescent roll dough.

Crescent Roll Dough

For this next part I used a nonstick roasting pan. You can also use a nonstick baking sheet, ungreased baking sheet lined with parchment paper, or greased cookie sheet sprayed with a nonstick cooking spray.

Begin by rolling out the sheet of crescent dough on your roasting pan or prepared baking sheet. There are perforations in the dough. Press down on these perforations to seal the seams.

Then, place each slice of cheese on top and in the middle of the dough, overlapping slightly. You will want to leave around 1 inch of dough at the top and the bottom and around 1.5" at the sides.

Lay slices of Provolone over the top of the dough

Using kitchen scissors or a sharp knife, cut into the long side of the crescent roll sheet, making pieces of dough strips approximately 1 inch apart. Leave around ½" of dough between the cut and the cheese.

Lay the cooked steak and onions on top of the cheese. Now start wrapping your mummy by crossing the strips of crescent dough as pictured below. Press down a bit where the strips meet to seal them. Fold over each end and press to seal down.

Suggestions for Serving

Now comes the best part...eating your Crescent Mummy! This is best enjoyed right after baking it.

I love to serve this with some mayonnaise or mustard on the side. It can be part of a main meal if you are serving 2 or 3 people. Or you can serve a 2-inch slice of the mummy and treat it as a fun appetizer.
