🥘 Ingredients

Ingredients needed to make Korean Spicy Pork Bulgogi displayed in bowls including soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, gochujang, gochugaru, garlic, pepper, green onions, ginger, and pork tenderloin.

So here are the simple ingredients you will need to make this spicy stir-fried pork bulgogi:

  • Pork tenderloin - sliced very thinly; you can sub thin slices of pork belly in this recipe if you like
  • Olive oil (this is not pictured) - you can also use peanut oil or vegetable oil
  • Gochujang - Korean red hot pepper paste
  • Gochugaru - Korean red pepper flakes (aka Korean chili flakes)
  • Soy sauce
  • Water
  • Sugar
  • Ginger
  • Garlic
  • Black pepper
  • Sesame oil
  • Green onions
  • Sesame seeds (optional garnish)

You should be able to find most of these ingredients at your local grocery store. Korean grocery stores will carry the gochujang and gochugaru, and I've also linked to Amazon for these items if you would like to order from there.

So now I'll show you how easy it is to make this popular Korean dish!

🔪 Instructions

It could not be simpler to make this Korean pork recipe! Bulgogi is very often grilled over charcoal, however I've written this easy recipe for the stovetop for convenience sake.

Start by removing the silver skin from the pork tenderloin and slice it very thinly using a sharp knife. It may help to freeze the pork for an hour prior to slicing it (this should help you to slice the meat thinly).

Combine the marinade ingredients in a medium bowl. The marinade ingredients are: gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, water, sugar, ginger, garlic, pepper, and sesame oil.

Stir to combine the ingredients thoroughly.

Add the pork slices to the marinade and mix everything together thoroughly, ensuring all the meat is covered by the marinade. Cover the bowl and leave to marinate for 30 minutes. You can either leave this in the fridge or at room temperature.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet on medium-high heat. Add the sliced pork tenderloin to the skillet when the oil is hot, and stir fry for 3-4 minutes, or until the pork is cooked through.

Suggestions For Serving

Serve this spicy pork bulgogi with some steamed rice and Korean side dishes such as zucchini side dish, Asian spinach, or spicy bean sprouts.

Pork bulgogi is also perfect served in lettuce wraps using red or green leaf lettuce!

Simply add a bit of steamed rice to lettuce leaves, and top with some pork bulgogi and perhaps some more spicy gochujang sauce, wrap it up and enjoy!
