Ok, so I first tried these DELISH snacks when I was sent them by @foodie_emilly (care of @asiansnackguy), my Instagram friend living in Singapore.

I can't tell you how excited I was to receive these snacks! Until I came across them on Instagram, I had never heard of salted egg, much less salted egg fish skins.

Taking my first bite of Salted Egg Fish Skin changed my life. 🙂

What is Salted Egg?

I'm not going to go too much into it, but basically salted egg is egg yolks that have been cured in salt. Here is a great article called "The Salted Egg is Asia's Answer to Parmesan," which should give you a little idea of how amazing it is. Because parmesan is simply amazing. 🙂

Salted egg is used quite a lot in Asian cuisine, cooked into various dishes as well as made into pastes and sauces. It is also used in snacks!

The Most Addictive Snacks Ever - Salted Egg Fish Skins

Imagine a rich, decadent, hugely umami flavor melting in your mouth. That's what Salted Egg Fish Skins taste like. I can imagine though that these may not be for everyone..fair enough BUT you MUST at least try!

And if you try and you like..it is the most moreish and addictive snack ever!

Irvin's Salted Egg Fish Skin

Irvin's Salted Egg Fish Skin

I was so fortunate to be gifted two different kinds of Salted Egg Fish Skin, Irvin's and Golden Duck.

The first one I tried was Irvin's. There's a warning on the package: Dangerously Addictive. Don't take this warning lightly!

Irvin's Salted Egg Fish Skin

Irvin's is made in Singapore, and there is a fascinating story behind the success of Irvin's. Please visit this article Singapore Salted Egg Chips Take Asia's Taste Buds By Storm. Irvin's is an amazing success story! If you are an entrepreneur and/or you love to dream, read this article!

All I have to say about tasting this amazing product is I WANT MORE. I brought some to my mom...I thought she would just sample a couple of chips but she almost took everything! Thanks mom! 🙂

Golden Duck Salted Egg Fish Skins

I then moved on to try Golden Duck Salted Egg Fish Skin. Have a look at the text on the package..both front and back. Created by dedicated Snackologists! and Eggs-actly what you are looking for!

Golden Duck Salted Egg Fish Skin

Honestly, I loved this one too. There was a hint of chili, and curry leaves, fragrant and crunchy! HUGE umami flavor and just incredible

My Choice?

I can't choose! Both Irvin's and Golden Duck are incredible. We'll go back to Toby at the top of the post...he liked both of them too. So you know..you've got to try both!

Asian Snack Guy

But wait! It seems my friend, AsianSnackguy also offers other Salted Egg Fish Skins from Fragrance and Jimmy's. He also offers other AMAZING Asian snacks such as fun Japanese KitKat flavors (I want them all!) and other great Asian Snacks!

Oh my! It is true. Many people turn away when they see FISH SKIN??!?!?. But these two snacks are extremely popular in Singapore and they aren't cheap. They are my favorite too and only on certain days.

Am glad you enjoy it. And Toby too ; )

    Stay safe and healthy.

    Yours sincerely,
    Jenny

Hi again Jenny! We DEVOURED those bags of Fish Skins so so quickly! I would love to have all the time but as you say they are expensive. I really hope more people will try these out though because they are SUPER DELISH! I love them so much, as does Toby. 🙂 Also wishing you stay safe and well. 🙂 Take care, Grace
