I resisted getting an air fryer for the longest time! But recently I finally purchased a GoWISE 7-Quart Electric Air Fryer and I am so amazed at what it can do!

The air fryer is a game changer appliance as it is like a mini convection oven. It's great for those with limited space and perfect for the college student!

An air fryer is such a versatile kitchen appliance and can cook so many different types of food. I was delighted to learn that it can also substitute for your toaster or toaster oven! You can make the perfect toast and all you need is your air fryer!

Why Use An Air Fryer To Make Toast?

As mentioned, the air fryer can help you make the perfect toast! The result you get is crispy toast with a beautiful golden brown color. I think using the air fryer is the BEST way to make a piece of toast!

Some other reasons to use your air fryer include:

  • It's such an easy way to make toast in a matter of minutes!
  • Great for busy mornings
  • It takes little effort and cleanup is minimal

In short, using your air fryer is a great option for an easy breakfast!

What Do I Need To Make Toast In The Air Fryer?

All you need to make this air fryer toast recipe is literally just bread slices and your air fryer. As far as air fryer recipes go, it doesn't get much easier than this!

You will not need any oil or parchment paper for this recipe.

The GoWise air fryer that I use is a basket style air fryer. Please note, that there are variations amongst different air fryers so you may need to adjust your cooking time just a bit.

You can read about different types of air fryers in this article by KitchenInfinity.com.

I am using rye bread to make my toast. These slices of bread are on the thicker side, as you can see below.

2 pieces of rye bread that are not toasted and one is held up to show the width of the bread and the other is lying flat.

You can also toast white bread, whole wheat bread, gluten-free bread, and english muffins as well. Simply choose your favorite types of bread, and get ready for some delicious toast!

Super Easy Recipe Instructions!

Simply place your slice of bread or pieces of bread in your air fryer basket. My GoWise comes with an air fryer tray (crisper tray), which sits at the bottom of the basket. Place your bread on the tray if you have one.

Be sure to place the bread in a single layer, and do not crowd the slices of bread. You will need to toast in batches if you want more toast than will fit properly as described.

Close the air fryer and now we'll set the temperature and time.

Set the temperature to 400 degrees f. Preheat your air fryer if necessary.

I wish there was a way to keep my reflection out of this picture. 😅

Then set the time to 2 minutes.

Start up your air fryer, and after 2 minutes take out the basket and flip the bread over. You may want to use tongs as the hot air will have caused the bread to be quite hot.

Air fry for another 2 minutes at 400F. Then open the basket and behold your beautiful golden toast!

How To Enjoy Your Toasted Bread!

Now that you have the best toast bread ever, the possibilities are endless as to how to enjoy it.

I love mine slathered with a huge amount of butter. Peanut butter or cream cheese would also be great options, and of course avocado toast is amazing!

Simply choose your favorite toppings and add to the top of the bread and enjoy with some fresh fruit for a great breakfast!

By the way, if you happen to have any leftover toast, you can freeze it and enjoy it later. And guess what? You can reheat it in your air fryer!

Some Considerations

There are a few considerations to keep in mind when you make your toast. As previously mentioned, you may need to adjust your cook time due to variations in different air fryers.

Your cooking time may also need to be adjusted due to:

  • Type of bread you use
  • Thickness of your bread
  • Desired amount of brownness that you like your toast to be

For best results, I encourage you to feel free to check on your toast (or any food you cook when using your air fryer) during the cooking process. This will help you to adjust the cooking time if and as necessary.

How Do I Keep The Bread From Flying Around In My Air Fryer?

If the kind of bread you have is very thin and light and/or your air fryer is very powerful, your bread may grow wings and fly! There is a small possibility that the bread could attach to the heating element in the air fryer and start a fire.

A solution for this is to place a wire rack or the basket rack that comes with your air fryer on top of the bread as it toasts.

Now you are all set to make some delicious air fryer toast for breakfast time or anytime!
