Kimchi Pizza = GENIUS!
Ok, so I didn't invent Kimchi Pizza. I also am late to the game. However, better late than never and I have to say this is now one of my FAVE pizzas! Whoever first dreamed up the idea of kimchi on pizza is a true GENIUS for sure!
If you love kimchi like I do, then you will absolutely be over the moon deliriously happy with this kimchi pizza recipe!
What's In/On This Insanely Delish Korean Pizza?
This GENIUS pizza starts with pizza dough topped with a gochuchang and garlic infused pizza sauce.
It is then simply topped with mozzarella, kimchi, a bit of Polska Kielbasa or cooked pieces of pork belly, and some sliced green onions. That's it!
Approximately 15 Minutes To Kimchi Pizza Heaven
I chose to use a very thin crust (my preference). With a 450F preheated oven and using a preheated pizza stone, it took about 15 minutes to cook my yummy pizza to perfection. Perfection includes browned and bubbling mozzarella by the way!
You will need to adjust your cooking time to accommodate the pizza dough or crust that you are using. If you would like to make your own pizza dough, click here to get my pizza dough recipe for Lahmajoun (Turkish Pizza). Even though it is for Lahmajoun, it is my go to pizza dough recipe for lovely thin crusts! This recipe will make 2 thin crusts. So...you can use 1 of them for this Kimchi Pizza, and 1 for Lahmajoun. 😀
The final touch is a drizzle of sesame oil...so good.
I hope you will agree that this Kimchi Pizza is a pizza you'd like to reach into your screen and be able to grab and eat ASAP! 😃😃
A Word About Salt
Now, this pizza is somewhat salty. Admittedly I LOVE salty food so I don't have an issue with this. However, if you are watching your salt content, here are a few suggestions:
- Use a pizza sauce or tomato sauce that is low salt or no salt
- Omit the gochujang which is added to the tomato sauce OR reduce the amount
- Reduce the amount of kimchi that is called for in this recipe, or be sure to choose kimchi that is not overwhelmingly salty. My mom has a diet that restricts salt, so she has to rinse some of her kimchi. It is an option if you have to watch your salt...but unfortunately won't taste the same!
Where there is food there is Toby! And yes! Toby enjoys Kimchi ...crazy dog! 😂
I do hope you will give this kimchi pizza recipe a try! If you are a kimchi lover it's a no brainer!!
