We recently took a trip to the Ft. Worth area over New Year’s, and stayed at “The Bunkhouse,” a cozy guest cottage that we found on Airbnb.
The Bunkhouse is dog friendly (yay!) with approval from the awesome host, Cathy. The house has a fenced in yard in the back, where Toby (our St. Bernard) could run and stretch his legs.
The Bunkhouse - Pet Friendly, Peaceful, Affordable
It is not always easy to find a vacation rental that will accept large dogs, so we are so grateful for the opportunity to have been able to stay at this fantastic place.
This is the perfect place to stay if you are looking to stay in a peaceful and quiet setting. The cottage is off the main road and located down a country road. The Bunkhouse is located next to the main house, and has its own entrance and plenty of privacy.
The Bunkhouse is suitable for a couple (plus dog!), or a single traveler (plus dog!). It is located approximately 20 miles from Ft. Worth, and 10 miles from Weatherford, TX.
I’m always looking for affordable lodging that is pet friendly, and I hit the jackpot with The Bunkhouse! The cost was less than $100/night, and our hosts even provided delicious muffins from Central Market, drinks, snacks, and other goodies for us.
Save Money by Staying at Airbnb's
I am a huge fan of staying in Airbnb properties. They are unique, and many of them are very affordable. If you are traveling on a budget, staying in an Airbnb can save you a huge amount of money on food costs.
The Bunkhouse has a small kitchenette area where you can create your own meals. The kitchenette includes a refrigerator, small hotplate, microwave, plates, cooking utensils, etc. There is also a BBQ grill for your enjoyment! We grilled some steaks Korean barbecue style (delicious!) on our last evening at the Bunkhouse.

The Bunkhouse as a Retreat
If you can't bear to leave The Bunkhouse, then settle in and relax! The cottage is pet friendly, and there is a policy that dogs should not be allowed on the furniture. However, the hostess Cathy gave us permission to allow Toby on the Love Sac (covered with a blanket). He LOVED the Love Sac, and we did too!
There is a great pool table in the cottage. You can spend hours relaxing just playing pool, reading, or watching a film. There is a large TV with satellite, and free wi-fi available for use.
In the mornings, open the curtains wide to reveal a lovely country setting. You can enjoy morning coffee on the couch or outside on the patio, and enjoy birdwatching.
