Incredibly Delicious Prawn Sinigang

Based on the Sinigang Recipe From The Mama Sita's Sinigang Sa Sampalok Mix
An absolute dream of a dish! This Prawn Sinigang is so easy to assemble, quick to cook, and you will have a delicious taste of the Philippines on your table in no time at all! Sour, tangy and refreshing you will love it!

  • 1 packet Mama Sita's Sinigang Sa Sampalok I used the HOT version feel free to use the regular
  • 2 lbs prawns I used head off shell on prawns; for a more authentic version use head on prawns
  • 10 cups water
  • 1 cup tomatoes quartered
  • 1/2 cup onions quartered
  • 2 cups sitaw cut into 2" pieces; if you can't find sitaw, regular green beans will do just fine!
  • 2 cups Daikon radish peeled and sliced
  • 4 ea Serrano pepper or long green peppers, sliced lengthwise
  • 2 cup green leafy spinach use kang kong (water spinach) if you can find it; can also sub bok choy
  • fish sauce to taste


  • Bring water, onions and tomatoes to a boil in a large saucepan.

  • Add the entire pouch of Mama Sita's Sinigang Sa Sampalok to the saucepan. Bring to a roiling boil. Then add the daikon radish, sitaw, and serrano peppers. Cover and allow to simmer for around 5 minutes.

  • Add the prawns and then simmer for about 3-5 minutes until the prawns are cooked. Remove from the heat and add the spinach (or kang kong or bok choy). Cover and allow to steam cook for a couple of minutes. Taste and adjust for seasoning adding additional fish sauce to taste.

  • Serve HOT in a beautiful bowl, with rice on the side!
