My mom used to make this Gooey Sticky Chicken for my sisters and I when we were growing up. We loved it so much, and you will too! Easy and delicious, it's perfect for a busy weeknight and budget friendly too!
Begin by cutting the chicken pieces into bite sized pieces. Place the flour in one bowl (or dish), and the whisked egg in a separate bowl or dish. Then dip the chicken into the whisked egg and let the excess run off. Now dip the chicken into the flour shaking the excess off.
Combine all the honey garlic sauce ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
Heat a large skillet (preferably well seasoned cast iron) on medium-high heat. Once hot add the olive oil, then add the chicken. Cook the chicken, stirring often, until it is browned and cooked through (around 6 minutes).
Then turn the heat down to between low and medium. Stir the sauce well, and then add it to the chicken. Stir to combine and heat gently until the sauce has thickened. This should not take long at all (approximately 1 minute). Add additional honey for more gooeyness if you like!
Serve this garnished with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Freshly ground black pepper is a must as well!! You could even drizzle a bit of sesame oil over the chicken for some extra umami flavors.
